No modern scripture

Something like %50 of the D&C are scriptures where either God is telling Joseph to tell someone they did a good job or God is telling Joseph to tell someone that they need to do something. The D&C with many of these revelations was published in 1833, 35, 38, 44 and each time had more revelations like this where God was directly talking to some random members through the prophet.

If God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow then why isn't he still talking to us through the prophet and why aren't new sections being added to the D&C every few years? If you check the last revelation added to the D&C was added in like 1918. Since then 2 official declarations were put in but they aren't official sections of the D&C even though they were voted on to be included in the scriptures. D&C 26:2 and 28:13 talk about how nothing should be done in the church without common consent, so any new scripture added should be voted on like scriptures in the past were. But why haven't we done that even once in our life time? Is there nothing new God wants us to know? The world has changed a lot since 1978 or 1918 but God hasn't bothered to give us new direction even if it was something as inane as a scripture telling Mitt Romney to run for president.

We believe God doesn't change, but God clearly has changed in how he interacts with the world. He used to talk to prophets all the time and they would share those details with us. Now he doesn't even bother telling Russel Nelson that there will be a global pandemic (second paragraph https://abn.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2020/04/11nelson?lang=eng). I remember being told anything in the ensign or conference should be considered scripture, but again why is god changing? In the early church scripture was voted on and added to the D&C, now we bypass the vote and just take anything as scripture that ends up in conference or the ensign.

These changes and the lack of current revelation that's considered scripture, makes me think maybe all religion is made up and our connection to the divine really is a personal journey and the only value a church might give us is a community if it also allows us to walk out own path. Which the Mormon church doesn't do. You have to walk the Mormon path or be shamed for walking a different path.
