The PDF on this page, shows how the LDS church went from saying things like "being Gay is a sin and a choice" to "being Gay is something you are born with and isn't a sin, but acting on it is"
If the LDS church was led by prophets that spoke to a God that didn't like confusion then this document wouldn't exist. It's unreasonable to believe in an unchanging god who will tell one generation that being gay is a choice and another generation that people are born gay but need to be celibate.
God is supposed to be a constant in a changing world. The morals of the world shift and change as science understands new information. It appears the Mormon church follows the science but is behind by 20-50 years depending on the issue.
